The following kind words were also spoken on Croon

“[Honour Before Glory] looks like a band name and there are lots of people playing on the tracks. But it’s a solo album:  one person, Sam Nichols (aka Whiskas of ¡Forward, Russia!). The album is so listenable because it has so many good ideas, so much variety and so many sweet surprises. Each track starts from scratch: “what can I make now?” he seems to have thought. No sound, voice, drum fill, bass line, guitar break HAS to be there, or anywhere, to give a band member a job to do or to meet an expectation. “We are broken lines” is an aptly chosen title for the album. Sloppy drunk guitar in “Truely” or minimalist electronica in “Maison” are equally valid, equally compelling and well sequenced to draw the listener through the creativity. Honour Before Glory is a restless and driven individual liberated from others’ talents to fall flat on his face or fly. He flies”
